...but I wish I was snoring! LOL
We've gotten some very nice, much-needed rain over the past 24 hours. My rain gauge registers just shy of 1". I'll take it!
It's Raining, Not Pouring...
Rained here most all day yesterday
Since I just got a whole bunch of cuttings from a new friend in Austin, the rain has been very welcome!
We got about 2 inches, all nice and gentle.
Well, I knew it was bound to happen before we got the back yard finished. Jackhammered the sidewalks out a couple of days before the rain. Wow, what a mess!!! At least we were able to see if it was draining the way we want, and it did. I keep telling myself that this is going to work and that I'll be happy with the results - a couple of years from now when my aching back stops hurting and I'm sitting out there watching the butterflies in my new BF garden. LOL. Right now that seems very far away.

Dogs_N_Petunias, LOL! We'll have to remember to ask you to jackhammer something else out this summer when we are all desperate for rain! Sorry about your back, though. I've been there--believe me! I'm sure the new walk will be worth it.
I finally got rain, too! 1 3/8" the day before yesterday and 7/8" yesterday. All of the previous rains had been skipping right around my little kingdom so I am veryyyyyy happy to get this rain!
Wow quite a project! Are you a regular jack-hammerer, or is that something one can just go rent and have at it? I've got a small walk that needs to come out. I've been thinking sledge hammer, but maybe that would be easier?
Being able to check the drainage is more than nothing. Our kingdom is still in the rain-skipping hole. We dug all sorts of fabulous things after Hermine, and haven't managed to have half an inch total since then to be able to make sure it's right.
ugh, jackhammers! You have my sympathy Glenna! Those are a requirement at our house whenever we want to do anything outside. :( On the other hand, your walk looks like it will be lovely. :)

We rented an electric jackhammer and DH owns what's called a hammer drill that he uses to take out areas that are next to cement we want to not damage. Also had to rent a cement cutting machine that was gas powered. Our poor neighbors have had to endure quite a bit of noise recently.
And, yes, it is quite a project. We have put it off for many years but decided we better get after it before we got any more "senior" than we are now, and I think maybe we should have done it 5 years ago!!!
When we saw rain on the forecast, we scattered the Oklahoma flagstone around to cover areas that we had already started filling with sand and leveling, hoping that it would keep it from totally washing away. Worked pretty well but now we have to move the flagstone -- again -- to level the sand and set them permanently.
