I have quiet a bit of parrot feather, and I would like to keep it . Will it live if I put it down in the pond with the rest of my plants? Some of it is just floating, do I need to plant it? We do get ice on the pond, I leave my filter with tank out of pond runing all winter, I have a water fall and it has kept running so far. Thanks kp, zone 7a
Parrot feather in winter?
likes heat, think if planted, you MIGHT see it come back nex spring
Probably best to bring it inside and winter-over in a fish tank or aquarium with lights.
What is it's hardiness rating?
C
Will it live in an aquarium? OK, that sounds like a stupid q lol.
But I know lots of people here said they tried other pond plants like the water lettuce or hyacinth and they die.
They simply don't get enough light and many will not last the winter. I think parrots feather is pretty hardy but check and see if its a zone8 or zone7 plant.
