So here's what I had to buy because of the chicks.

An heavy duty air purifer. To get rid of the chicken dust and dander. Takes smells out of the air too although I didn't notice any smell even before this.

Then I also had to get a big cage. It came in a really big box.

Here it is dragged inside and out of the box but not put together. It had that nice plastic as the bottom so I will be able to give them bedding. The top part is wire and just snaps on so they can see the world but not leave LOL! It is 47 long by 22 high by 23 wide. I am going to move the lavender Orps into it when they need to leave the aquarium. I will need the aquarium for the sex links in 3 weeks anyway.

I just wanted to see. For now its back in the box but I will need it soon enough.

Luxury accommodations! Isn't it amazing how much dust a few little chickens can create?

My house was dusty anyway as I am not the worlds best housekeeper LOL! But I had two of these Austin Brand air purifers already. They are great. I have had the old ones for twelve years, one downstairs and one upstairs. But too much dust. So I looked them up on the web and found all sorts updated new models. Mine is the pet machine and I really notice the difference in air quality with it working. The old one is still working in my bathroom too.

I figgured I had better get the cage as I will need it as a 2nd stage brooder. I have no outside facitilies. Not that I would put them out in the cold anyway. Plus I really like having them right here while they are small.

I got fussed at all last winter from all the chicken dust in my dining room lol. I am raising them out in the Florida room this year since i got rid of the majority of my plants

I wish I had a Florida room, I would have it full of chicks! I really do recommend one of these air purifers.

Here is the brand I got and the website for them-

Mine is the Austin Heathmate Pet Machine.

Each year here I get all stuffed up as soon as all the windows close up. I have always thought that it was because that made the air dry here. Well, it also makes the dust stay. This really has made a hummungous difference. No more stuffed up sinuses. And the air smells fresh too. No more dusty smell.
