galanthus / leucojum

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 6a)

I bought several varieties of galanthus and leucojum for the first time this fall.
I can't find information about what setting they prefer.
I have lots of woodland with dappled sun / shade - is that a suitable environment,
or do they need more sun?
And are they fussy about good drainage like many other bulbs?

Thanks for any info.

Leucojum aestivalis is most often found in the wild in wet meadows, so I assume it would prefer that in your garden too. However, meadows are pretty much full sun, so a more shady, drier location would probably do well too, although not flower as much. BTW, all the cultivated leucojums have now moved into the genus Acis, rather than Leucojum.

Galanthus are inherently more floriferous, and more forgiving in respect to culture. They would want as much sun as possible in the spring until the leaves die back, and then shade to keep the soil cooler.

Thanks. It's my first try with them, so we'll see how it goes.
Thanks for the info.
