Rainforest Brazil

Prosper, TX(Zone 8a)

Genus: Capsicum
Species: C. annuum
Variety: Rainforest
Origin: Brazil

The flowers of annuum vary greatly as more and more hybrids are introduced each year. The typical white flowers are becoming less and less and being replaced with more ornamental looking varieties with pretty purple flowers.

One can still distinguish this as an annuum simply by observing the white on the Anther or the solitary declining Pedicels during blossoming.

It may look like a C. pubescens but if in doubt check the seeds and if they are straw colored with the characteristics mentioned above then you have an annuum. It would be a pubescens if the seeds are dark to black in color and may share the characteristics above except Pedicels erect but flowers nodding and not declining!

Enjoy
