Has anyone used one of these? I'm about to buy a second-hand one from someone who used it only three times but said it worked well. I'm thinking it'll be perfect when I want just a couple-three new chicks or ducks as replacements, and won't have to make a big order from a hatchery or try to find someone to split an order.
R-Com Mini incubator
Egg-cellent! I just picked it up today. She said it worked well, but just didn't hold enough eggs for what she wanted to do. She did put up to 5 eggs in it one time.
In your second pic, is there a special egg insert or did you just put the extra eggs in?
There is a special egg insert you can buy, mine did not come with it so I just put in the eggs and turned them myself. My eggs were seramas therefore there was room but standard eggs only five would even fit, but I don't know about the model you have. I intended to use mine similiar to what you said and then I got into seramas and caught the bug...Brinsea for my money is by far the top of the line...Hay
It's a "DX-8800XP" according to the manual. Sounds like a motorcycle or something. ;-) It looks like yours.
The English in the manual just kills me. :)
"Caution: Please keep your wet hands away from the adaptor and do not put in quilts."
"Tip: The light for filling up of water can remain for a while after you filled up."
Under a cartoon of a hen and rooster with little hearts floating over their heads:
"Fertilized egg is Simply speaking, it means an egg laid by mating a hen and a cock. So it can become a chicken."
However, it is very clear, and I think it's aimed at school kids. I can see using this in a classroom for a lesson on how birds develop in the egg and hatch.
Should be fun!
OMG Gallesfarm you had me rolling. I had forgotten about the instruction that came with the bator. I also laughed when I read them...LOL, that was our intent when we bought ours. To use to slowly increase our flock and let schools use it in science classes and such. I'm sure your going to love it...Have fun...Hay
