Photo contest time coming soon!
Congratulations to DonnieBrook for her first place win in Balconies/patios and to Celeste for her recipe!
Thanks to all who sent congratulations for my first place in vegetable gardening on the County Fair Contest.
Here's Terry's post about the contest:
We have a longstanding tradition of a fall photo contest here at DG. This year will have the same category as last year's. Here's a link for those who are not familiar with this fun activity:
http://davesgarden.com/contest/2009/
Starting Monday, entries can be submitted anytime over a two-week period. We'll then have a week for voting before wrapping up the contest before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, and giving everyone plenty of time to order a calendar featuring all the winning photographs.
Same contest rules as in the past - your own photos, no obvious enhancements, two per member per category, and only photos that haven't been submitted to previous contests.
Category winners will receive a free calendar, and a free one-year subscription or annual renewal. Everyone who enters a photo will be entered in a random drawing for a subscription.
As soon as I can on Monday, I'll get the link posted here, so the submissions can begin! Good luck to all!

When Terry posts the actual link to the 2010 contest I'll post it here but if you spot it first please post it.

Hey, what about me?? :) I started entering this year and then got too busy so I only posted 2 or 3 pics. But it's always fun to look at everyone's posts.
Congrats to all the winners!!!
Yeah! Congrats to all. So many lovely pics.
Congrat's to all the winners!
Victor - the water category got you two places so double the congrat's.
WC - fantastic toad lily and it deserved first place. Loved all your winners!
SoJ - loved the shed and the JI's - glad you came out a winner.
It was great fun. Thanks for all the congrat's!
(This one is for you, Victor, taken in Maine last October. It only got a runner up spot but it still makes me smile when I see it.)
Hee hee - love it! (A bit small, though. ^_^)
Ha! You should have seen them in person!
I won runner up with 29 votes - wouldn't you think it deserved more...like 38C points?
I would have preferred to see them before midnight!
Wow!
Congrats to all the winners.
Congrats everyone!! The NE cleaned up I think!! Glad to see some of the winners here I voted for.
sorry about the wrong place WC... like I said I was 1/2 asleep... I can say I am proud to be a part of all the wonderful talent in the NE!!!!.... my heart was not in my entries this year.. I entered all mine on the last day... and with no thought behind them ... some of the photos I let Randy pick... he loved the two blue jays and was kind of pouting that one didn't make it up there... but he had fun helping me pick the photos out... AND I SAY CELESTE'S FLAMINGOS SHOULD HAVE WON the Misc ... LOL (just had to.. I love them!!!!)
:)
Funny that a number of us were not as into it this year as we normally are. I only judged about 60% of the categories. There are too many! It's tedious going through it. They really need to have a 'pre-judgment' to pick the best 20, or whatever, in each category and let us vote on them. That will eliminate the duds. If they don't want to do that, they should make the thumbnails larger so you can use that method better. I found them too small to get a real sense, but it took forever to go through the large size individually.
yeah I will agree with that... I actually took more time to vote .. than to enter this year.. but it does take a long time to go though them all... I can say the winners are pretty good this year though... don't see any that made me go WHY... and that's always good
I agree for most. But with some - as always - cute trumps quality.
yes... at times.. but that's what people like... and that's what it is about... not everyone has a trained eye.. just voting for what they like to look at... so unless it was judged by pros .. that's what we have to shoot for
