Taking Bets...

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

I was floored today to see my Brug...which has done nothing but provide beautiful 6' tall greenery have a two inch bud on it...finally...

Now taking bets if it will bloom before frost...hmmmmm....should I just cut my losses and take cuttings? I see no Y on the brug at all so am scratching my head on the bud but hey...at this stage of the game I'll just go with the flow LOL

I just checked the weather forecast for tonight's low and it is supposed to go to 47 down here. YIKES! TIme to get the sweaters out.

rednyr: I use to take cuttings from mine and try to do all the right things then I noticed my neighbors come back every year and all he did was put a lot of pinestraw at the base of the plant. They are usually 6' tall and full of blooms every year. Now I leave mine alone and they are fine.

Thankfully the weatherperson was wrong and we only got down to 55. No brugs in my garden, I am a brug killer, but my neighbors leaves theirs out and they do fine. Some years, like last winter, they die back to the ground but they come back faster and larger than ever.

I have two in the ground and they come right back in the spring, can't say they look good there is always something not right with my brugs. Not enough water and bam the leaves fall off LOL. I just can't seem to get the right combination of things to together for a good looking blooming brug.

well the buds are now close to 3-4" long...I am hopeful I will get to see at least one bud bloom....This is one I received at my first round up a few years back so it means alot to me that this one has done so well at the new home...
