Today I went to the Selby Estate (Selby Botanical Garden) for an AV and Gessneriad Show from the Tampa and Suncoast Clubs. Beautiful show, mostly gessies, a few Standard AV and a few minis. This is the view from the Pavillion where the show was held. I live across the Bridge on Longboat Key.

AV and Gessie Show at Selby Gardens Sarasota, Fl.
their violets "was nothing to write home about".
This is J crosteau. too open --- good blooms but not tight enough... my opinion -- but thats all there was. The minis were better.
I thought i'd share
I ran to be there at opening to get good stuff. They had many Gessie plants, leaves stolons, starters, very little in the AV dept. hardly any leaves. I would have like to buy some.....
I did see some of the members walk off with large trays of plants that they purchased. They had first dibs good for them.

The Moon chirita looks amazing, love her hairy leaves and the shape is great too. I bet it was fun to see her in person. Cleopatra setting looks very interesting as well.
Oh it was wonderful. The setting in this grand - what was an estate - now botanical gardens. Don't get me wrong the show was done so well , they had a huge room to make it look grand. But I get so befuddled with all the Gessies - don't know them - know AVS from way back when - Did pick up 2 leaves of "Granger wonderland" which I used to grow....
overwhelming....
