#3 These birds are very tamed, they came right up to people sitting around and having picnic on sidewalk.

Not very clear pic. from below. I saw this one by the river and it was calling out a good tune.

# 1 looks like a male Cowbird-my females look much lighter colored

# 2 looks like a male Cowbird

#3 not sure.

#4 Hermit Thrush-just saw one here in the berries too

#5 Black Phoebe-I love the way the tail bobs up and down

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ah, thank Duc for the confirmation. Woohoo, Hermit Thrush eh? That is a lifer for me. I knew the Black Phoebe resembles somewhat of our Eastern Phoebe and the King birds down here...except King bird has a white stripe on the tip of the tail, and tails do not bob up and down (like phoebes' tails) while they perch.

#3 is another Brown-headed Cowbird, juvenile (paler feathers) moulting into adult male (darker) plumage

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Resin. Ah, now I've a close up observation and enjoy their antic. Presumably same type of cowbirds I observed from the Eastern region from a distance?

Here is a gull/tern of some type. Once again pic. was taken in California.

We have both the Western and the California Gulls here right now. The problem is there are lots of juveniles and I'm going to guess this is a younger Western with the slight coloring on the head, but Resin will have to confirm this one.

California Gull for me - note the greeny-yellow legs (pink on Western). Also, Western is a big, heavy bird with a stout bill.

Many thanks Resin and Duc. Ca. Gull it's!
