I bought a banana dwarf tree from Henry's this past Spring, I planted it in a 10 gallon nursery pot, especially for the purpose of bringing it in during the fall/winter, which I just did. I've been using palm fertilizer on it and it's doing fine; but, it looks like another banana tree is coming up next to it in the nursery pot, is that possible? What should I do?

Need advice here on my dwarf banana tree
Sounds like your doing just fine!
Bananas spread by suckering. The shoot that came up will likely grow more vigorously than the first plant.
Thanks, now I just need to find out how to split it off from the mother plant, and transplant it and have two banana plants now instead of one right? LOOL

Until the clump is well established it may be best to leave it alone.
When the clump is maturing and there are several suckers at the base, then they can be safely removed to start new plants.
Thank you, will watch for that. I'm happy with the 3 trees I planted in the nursery pots. I have a key lime, Meyer Lemon and dwarf banana that are doing great inside the house, as the temps here are dropping down to around 50 degrees at night now.
