These are really bad...the bird was s o far away and high up...but it still looked HUGE!!! lol

Yep..Red-tailed Hawk Those dark areas on the leading edge of the underwings (1st photo) are called patagial marks.

These marks are diagnostic for this species and can be seen from really far away.
