Syrphid Fly

Prosper, TX(Zone 8a)

Another welcome critter in my yard.

When I see an adult it means that there could be young ones in or on my plant's and the larval stage of the sryphid fly is an insect predator. The maggots are tapered and variously colored and crawl all over foliage and feast on dozens of aphids each day.

One can never have to many aphid destroyers on hand.

That's an awesome picture! You should submit it to the bug files.
