New to the area and every time I search "when to plant Leeks" in N. Central Texas I get different results. Spring, Fall or Both????? I would love to hear from someone with actual experience.
Thanks.
LEEKS
lol - I just put them in the ground and let them choose... Sometimes the tops freeze (like last winter), and always the tops will heat to death in August. But they'll come back from the little bulbets. I think the odds on answer would be "both" - probably September and Feb, something like that. I guess if you were doing more to control their environment (covering in cold weather, shading in hot), you'd improve your odds.
(They're not my super favorite vegetable, I get by just fine with onions and garlic, but Dang they're expensive at the grocery store. So I feel like I have to plant some just to save money.)
Thanks
ps--Try a Leek soup
