My EARL OF ESSEX IRISES are re-blooming

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

I bought some Earl of Essex Irises last year after the reccomendation of Jimmy Turner (the director of the Dallas Arboretum).
He said that this Iris is the best re-bloomer for the DFW area.
So far I really enjoy them.

How pretty!! I could do without the bug pic, though. LOL It is a great pic, btw and should be entered in the photo contest on the board.

Lovely! How nice that you see it again in the fall.

I didn't know there were reblooming irises, very nice color on the blue one.

Did you find a good source to buy them?

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

I bought them from Marlboro bulbs

I love this company.
15 irises for $25 !! great price !!

Arlington, TX

That is a good price. They bloom like normal irises in the spring and then repeat once in the fall?

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

yes. This is the first year that are re-blooming in the fall. Just a few re-bloomed on the first year.
I think they need to be little older. Beautiful Irises.

The Praying Mantis is still in my Irises ...
She may think that it is her house !!

They didn't announce it very well. I thought the voting wasn't over until Friday at midnight.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Congrats! I have a feeling your garden would win garden club awards too.
Yes, DG still announces voting is still going on.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Congrats to both Sheila & drthor on their wins!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Stephanie. You should have entered some veggies and garden pictures.
FYI they do have the main Photo contest for the Calendar comming up soon!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

drthor, why is it your not going to the NCTRU? We would like to meet you.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, I really had no idea what to enter. Now I'll know for next year. I might do something with the annual photo contest, though.

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Kenboy, but I have previous engagemnts

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

There are past photo contest calendar winners you can go back and look at; but this was the first time for the "country fair" one. I guess they had to have the regular one because this one was so limited in entry groups.
I do hope they leave the entry time and voting open longer. Also announce it better, a lot of people never knew it was happening.
