I caught this bird close to Philadelphia a month ago and still have no clue as to the ID can anyone help me out.
CLOSED: A side view and back view but what is it?
Northern Flicker
Ditto, Northern Flicker: http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/284/
Thank you. I wasn't sure about this bird because it looks as if there is a yellow line of feathers along the side on the second picture. But it does match the Northern Flicker. I think I better study up on birds. It's sad when someone from Florida has to tell me about birds from up north. thanks again plantladylin and DonnaB :)
LOL, we have the Northern Flicker down here too, that's why I recognized it.
Thanks again that doesn't make me feel any better!
My husband gave me a book on Florida Birds a couple of years ago and it's been lots of fun reading about birds in our area. We have lots of common year round birds but it's always fun when I spot a "new" to me bird and post pic's here for identification!
Check out this site with some great photo's of the Birds of Pennsylvania: http://www.berkscountyweb.com/birds/index.htm
Wow! Thanks for the site. :) I'll be in Florida next week, can't wait to catch some Florida birds. M
