CLOSED: Heron ID, please.

(Zone 1)

Hope someone can tell me which Heron this is. We spotted a couple of them at Port Canaveral this afternoon. I thought it was the Great Blue Heron but the coloration just doesn't look right to me. I've never seen a Great Blue with the reddish brown head or brownish coloration on the body either. Does anyone recognize this one?

Both pics are of Great Blue Heron's...other versions of the Great Blue are the Great White Heron and the Wurdemann's Heron which has a white head.

Thanks Burd! Is this a juvenile? My bird book says juveniles are white? Maybe this is a teenager, LOL.

My bird book says adults are blue-gray, yellow bill, white head, black streak above each eye and neck streaked with black. The only thing it says about immature birds is they have black crowns and appear less resplendent than adults. The description also says there's a white morph version that is all white with light yellow bill and legs.

I will look up Wurdemann's Heron ... a new one I've never heard of, not listed in my Florida bird book.

Thanks for the identification!
