Ok, I am in a time crunch here and don't have time to search the forum for the answer.
It's supposed to be 34 tonight and 33 tomorrow night......will my 10 footers freeze on the south side of the house (in pots) up against the wall with a small wall of the house protecting about 5 feet on the west side?
Will they freeze
They will not freeze but the leaves may get frost bit. You may want to think about what you are going to do for the Winter.
And do that soon. Many Brugs will survive a quick and short drop below 32ºF. Leaves and short green branches will scorch, but the rest will survive. However prolonged exposure to temperatures below freezing will kill the entire top, the whole plant if the temperature around the rootball falls below 32ºF.
To make sure your Brug survives the winter, you need to get your Brugs into a location that will remain warmer than 32ºF. Ideally above 40ºF - 45ºF.
Oh, I was just meaning for the next 2 nights. I have a huge greenhouse where they will go, but didn't have time to take them up there today because of other committments. And they have lots of buds, so hoping to get one more blooming yet before it really freezes. Supposed to be in the mid 40's at night next week, so that is why I wasn't in a big hurry to move them.
Thanks. I won't worry about them then.
You should be OK.
What kills me is that I have a neighbor that kept hers inground, right next to her house, over the winter and they actually came back -- even after 10 below 0 temperatures! They can be tougher than we think, but best not to risk it. :)
Had a good frost last night and they are ok. Will move them in when they start yapping frost again. But, nice this week at night yet.
