kennedyh, I swear I actually get turned on by your photographs! I am painter as well as a gardener. My garden is in it's infancy, but I want to specialize in a Cottage-style, primarily geared toward Humming birds and Butterflies. And of course, I am going to have a water garden as a part of it--time and money permitting!
I can't get over how you captured the orange-hued "shadow" on the rock beneath the dragonfly! Some things you just cannot believe if you don't see them for yourself. The intensity of the pigment is unreal!!! The intensity and heat of the sunlight are a palpable thing--everything is so crisp. I can just feel the heat radiating up from that rock. You have really captured something extraordinary in a mind blowing way. I am so envious of anyone who can take good photographs, period, as mine are usually garbage, but you seem to have a special sensitivity, a Voice.
I have only been a silent participant at Dave's Garden but I have been following the newsletter for at least a year. I have seen your work many times. While my reaction isn't always so enthusiastic, and there are MANY great photos posted, I think your work is special. Yes, I do want to hit you up for your permission to use some of your photographs as parts of paintings/inspiration for paintings, but I am wondering if you have any plans to market your photographs into cards, calendars, books? I don't know if you are familiar with Anne Geddes, but that is how she became known. She had a special perspective that made her work stand out from the rest. I think you have this quality.
By the way, I live in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States. This is Zone 9. I haven't seen a map that delineates the a and b part, but it is an arid region. For many years I have been wanting to visit Australia. Such interesting geography and culture. Not to mention some seriously talented actors! Must be a cool place to have created so many cool heads. For now, joi_de_vivre

Thank you for your enthusiastic response to my photographs. The particular dragonfly picture was taken during a recent visit to Madagascar and South Africa and it posed for me at the edge of a small pool at one of the camps in Kruger National Park in South Africa. I have been back for over a month, but have still not finished sorting and cataloguing the 2200 photos I took during that trip.

I have no plans for marketing my photos, other than posting many to Dave's Garden and also to my own web site for our local Morwell National Park: http://morwellnp.pangaean.net/browser/index.html
although I have sold a few pictures for use in books as a result of their being accessed on Dave's Garden.

I would be happy to give you "permission to use some of my photographs as parts of paintings/inspiration for paintings" on the condition that I get to see the picture that results,

Thank you again

Kennedy
