Good morning, I am interested in trading for your coleus, rooted if possible or several cuttings & the Kohleria longwood (cld you give some info on this plant, inside/outside plant? I can trade paperwhite narcissus bulbs for the coleus & some caramel heuchera for the Kohleria. If you do not like these look at my trade list & maybe we can go from there. LMK
Kohleria in general is best considered an indoor/tropical that likes bright diffused light. In your climate it can probably grow outdoors for most of the year. While it can be grown year round without a rest, many Kohleria species have a winter rest period where it may even die back. In any case at the end of the summer or early fall, numerous rhizomes can be harvested and stored over the winter. Planting a piece of rhizome (or tuber) in the Spring, will quickly result in new growth for the year. 'Longwood', as with many hybrids, can be grown during the winter indoors without a rest.
I would be interested in some paper whites for forceing. Do you still have any Amaryllis
Hippeastrum 'Clown' bulbs?
I'd love to work something out.
Allan
Hi atisch,
I am interested in your Kohleria and your Perilla 'Magilla'. I mostly trade at the other site, and you can view my tradelist there http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/susanc
Thanks, Susan
P.S. Nice to run into someone else from Alameda!
I'd love the kohleria pleeeeeeeeeeze!..... I could share the Peruvain Daffodil bulbs or would you like anything on my list?
Susan,
You're the first person from Alameda I've run across. I had been hoping to find some local people here at DGs, but I've been dissapointed in that. Please send me an email to atisch(at)gmail dot com and perhaps we can make trades in person. I live not far from the Edison Elementary School.
Allan
To carpathiangirl,
I should have plenty of rhizomes for the Kohlaria. I'm not sure what Peruvian Daffodild are. Please give me a link. I should also have Rhizomes for a Smithiantha 'Temple Bells', which is quite similar in growth and flower to Kohlaria "Longwood'. These genuses (genii) can be cross-bred.

Allan, I would like to trade for your temple bells and kohleria. I just posted some EE 'Chicago Harlequin' and 'Illustris' for trade. Also have a couple of red lycoris bulbs. I'm also interested in rooted coleus.
