This was on facebook and starts out saying:
Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made from—things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it.
Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve—bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this.
Is this ghastly?
YCCK!
I am not looking or I won't be able to eat chicken again
Yeah, I'm not going to look either. I just bought some frozen chicken nuggets at the grocery store for my DN. YUCK!
Naaaawwww! Surely not! Eeeeyucky!
I don't believe it.. Chicken nuggets are just white meat mush.. have you ever tasted bones?? Nah.. not falling for this one.
ZZ, I'm going to think of what you said next time I'm dipping them in ranch drressing or BBQ sauce.... LOL
I read the other day how they take dead animals and mush them up to make dog food. Rendering plants I think it was I looked up. Yep, google "Rendering plants" and see where your dog food comes from. Even euthenized dogs and cats are put in there. http://www.jivdaya.org/rendering_plants.htm
Zz you wouldn't taste the bones because they crush them to powder.
People on FB kept posting this and I wouldn't look at first either.
I remember when chicken mcnuggets first came out and I kept wondering "How do they get them like this". They didn't look like any chicken I had ever seen before. After awhile I just quit asking myself and ate them. I won't be eating them again.
Nah.. I'm not falling for it.. no way. McDonalds cannot advertise them as being 100% white meat if they are not that.. Someone would have found out and made millions.
Like their fries.. a vegetarian found out they flavored their fries with beef flavor and got rich off it.
There is no way there are eyeballs, beaks and bones in chicken nuggets.. No way.
Well it is white, they bleach it to make it white. :)
I don't know Zz, I hope you are right, but they are doing some weird things with our food.
I don't, for a minute dispute that our food is totally being altered.. with all the preservatives, sugars and fats...etc..
We Are What We Eat (or What's Really In That Chicken McNugget)
is a video on youtube where a young man takes a chicken and pulverizes it in a food processor, and it looks similar to the picture on the website I posted first, of the long pink mixture.
He has left out the chemicals and the eyeballs, but it's probably similar to what happens in the MickyD factories. He covers his mixture with flour and cuts them out in little circles, and fries them. He ground up the bones too, or tried to.
You may be right about the white meat, but I've seen parts that were dark too.
Kind of sad we don't question more what we are eating.
Many of the people here on DG do question. We seem to share a few things in common, our desire for safe food and an appreciation of nature.
McDonalds did have nuggets that were part dark meat, I loved em! Now that they are all white meat, I don't care for them.
Check this out... I DO believe this.. (Not that it's any better!) LOL REALLY! Petroleum products to preserve freshness??

From your link:
The 2004 documentary Super Size Me states that "McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, originally made from old chickens no longer able to lay eggs. These chickens are stripped down to the bone, and then "ground up" into a chicken mash then combined with a variety of stabilizers and preservatives, pressed into familiar shapes, breaded and deep fried, freeze dried, and then shipped to a McDonald's near you." Super Size Me also alleged that they included chemicals such as tertiary butylhydroquinone (a phenolic antioxidant), polydimethylsiloxane (an anti-foaming agent)
Stripped down to the bone and ground up into mash.
Shall we call them and ask if the chickens are beheaded first? That way we'll know if the eyeballs are included. Okay, joking.
Still unclear on the bone parts. Wonder how they strip them down to the bone if they are not cooked yet.
I'll let this subject drop. Sorry if I have offended anyone.
I'm still such a baby I cannot imagine eating a bird I have raised, even though I want to. Two weeks ago I ate chicken for the first time in two and a half years. It was SO good.
People that raise and slaughter their own food at least know what they are eating. My hat is off to them.
remember when that lady got a Chicken Head or Foot in the Mc Nuggets for her kids. She sued and won big bucks
You sure haven't offended me! I think it's a good conversation! Makes one think...
Only just voicing our opinions here.. at least that's all I see. :)

I didn't hear about it DonnaB, but here it is on youtube. The newscaster says chicken wings, but mickydee's don't serve chicken wings that I ever knew of. Notice the way he says "wings" too, like he is afraid to say mcnuggets. Just my own thought, but maybe the station didn't want to be sued.
So you think that the head just didn't get pulverized for some reason, or the head wasn't supposed to be in there at all?
On the lighter side.. ha... look at this woman go nuts when she's told she cannot have her mcnuggets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lB1F1Km6oo&feature=related Was that a beer bottle she threw through the window?
Saw that on the right and couldn't resist watching it and sharing. Glad I don't drink anymore. lol I should probably be ashamed for laughing at that lady, but it's hard not to.
Maybe McNuggets like laws and sausages are just another thing we don't want to watch get made.
Yes, Porkpal, I think so.
Hmmm havent had a Mcnoogie in a while! But I suuuure do love their Chicken Biscuits!! Yummy!
Here's what Wikipedia says about MSM: Mechanically separated meat (MSM), also known as mechanically recovered/reclaimed meat (MRM), is a paste-like meat product produced by forcing beef, pork, turkey or chicken bones, with attached edible meat, under high pressure through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat tissue.
No eyeballs allowed. Think about it. The chickens are slaughtered, plucked and head, feet, and innards removed. Then they either package them like that (whole chicken) or cut into parts and package that, or they take the breast meat off for boneless breast, and package the thighs and legs separately. So then they have the rest of the carcass. That's where they are getting the bones with "attached edible meat" from.
Waste not, want not.
VI-enee sausage and Potted meat!!! anybody got some saltines? Oh Yumm!! LOL!
Don't forget canned spam. How can something that awful for you taste so good?
I love this thread, I think it is provocative, and filled with some great opinions. Here is mine. After a period of consideration of all sides so far expressed I must say I agree with ZZ's on this issue. My wife has worked for McDonalds for six years now and I have learned a lot about the McDonalds empire. Many of the things put out there are simply not true, and others are not accurate. Think of this, if you ever have bitten into a golden nugget, there is a texture that would not exist if it was just mushy processed meat as has been stated. You can not convince me that you can turn meat to mush and have that kind of texture. There are so many that would turn us all into followers and mindless eneties of their foolish nonsense. As for me McDonald nuggets ROCK...Hay
Check THIS out!! I found this very interesting!
