Raccoons

Apparently someone in my neighborhood, is feeding them. We had the door open and the screen door in place...I got up when the movie we were watching had ended. DH asked me, "What was that noise?" Just then a young raccoon came into sight on the patio. When he saw me, he capered toward the door and stood on the screen, like the cat is not allowed to do. I was stunned, and just stood in place, gaping at him. He showed no fear of us at all. Of course, when Corky became aware of him, he wanted to go out and join the raccoon...Corky seems to think they are his friends, despite me telling him they are not. I am keeping Corky inside when it is dark to try to reduce the chances of encounter between them.
We have a sprinkler, we call the spitting bird..it has a photo cell and when it is crossed, it shoots a stream of water...it worked real well on the UPS man, he no longer cuts across the yard! (and it has been years) It wasn't set for him, but he got it...I am sure we will get the cat, but it can't be helped.
