This little vine has appeared in mamajack's gardens. Neither of us know what it is.

Sure looks like this one http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/71746/
Looks like Sand Vine (Cynanchum laeve) to me. A nice host plant for Monarch and Queen butterflies.

I hate honey vine. I have acres of that invasive plant and tree choking assassin. I do have a lot of Queens and Monarchs.
Oh, man. I have that one too! Very anoying to have it in my rose bed and not out in the pasture where it would be fine. Why can't weeds be more compliant!?!
terri honey and sand vines are the same. I hope I didn't confuse anyone with using the name I learned sometime ago.
I knew what you meant =). Still don't want it in my roses. This is the first year I've seen it. Because of the butterflies I wouldn't mind if it were in the pasture or along the lane. I haven't seen it there though =~`.
Oh my goodness, a milkweed vine? where can I get some please?
I have lots of butterflys. I have lots of the regular milkweed varities. But if it would disappear tonight I would break out the bubbly. It grows often and fast. A rose bush doesn't have a chance. Don't give it a chance in a residential area.
Ignore the picture date. I was too lazy to set the date. I took them this afterrnoon.

Do you have seeds? or maybe pot some up for me, and what can i trade you for it?
Josephine.
I am sure I can keep an eye on it and control it.
It is flowering right now I will check for seeds when they dry. I will have no problem potting up some, little bitty ones are coming up every where, probably underneath my potting table. It sometimes invades my pots, I might have some already in the pot. LOL
If I can't discourage you I will help. Do you want to wait for seeds? I have never looked at the seeds. I could dig some and Priority Mail them for postage.
I don't want trade for more plants at this time. I still have some plants left in pots from the April '09 ARU. I spent almost a year down with a lot of health problems. My planting got way behind. I am about halfway to my goal of 100 crape myrtles in the ground.
I swear this stuff speads like Kudzu.
Oh!!! you are a doll, I will dmail you my address, and please let me know how much it cost to send it.
Also please save seeds in case the plant doesn't make it, I know many people who will be trilled to have it.
Josephine.
I think the sand/honey vine is what it is. I will call this thread to Barb's attention and let her decide whether to keep it or not. Thanks to all of you for your help!
yep. i remember now i went out of my way to either get seeds or a plant. ooooh. have to decide what to do. prob. don't want it in the front bed, huh pattie?
You mean it's something you planted and then forgot about? LOL! Well, I think it's very pretty. Maybe we can find a better place where it can sorta have its head.
yes i wanted it for the butterflies. pattie if i let this go in the ground it is going to take over sounds like. it is a real pretty vine though. have never seen it bloom. now that the bed is cleared out hope to see the blooms. or did they bloom in the spring?
i went and looked at the plant file pics. they don't look the same to me. also mine has no milky substance if you break a leaf. can you post that pic over on the plant i.d. forum pattie? the ones in the plant files have no white lines in the leaves.
wildcat..........have you got a close-up pic?
When I said they were blooming I must of had a tablespoon or two of my cousin Tootsie's Cure All Tonic. Looking at them today there is no sign of flowers. Old age is, uuuuh, I forget what it is.
Really? You don't think yours looks like this? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/45854/
Sure, I'll put it in the plant files when we're agreed on what it is.

Glad to know what it is. The bird's plant it at my place and then the war begins. Must grow a foot every night. Strangles every thing in its path. Grows faster than I can control it. Sneaky, sneaky.
I would never plant it on purpose. Have one entire bed covered with Milkweed plants from Josephine. Blooms look like lantana. Have yet to see Monarchs this year. Covered with Gulf Fritillary and Giant Swallowtails.
Well, I wonder how come everybody seems to have that vine and I don't, that is just not fair!!!
I have always said the being lucky was unfair.
I have it too and this is the first year I've seen it. It's a bugger! I found it all wound up in a couple of my crepe myrtles on the far side (where I don't wander too much) and had to pull it all out - it was choking the cm! Then I started looking as I was mowing and I found it in a lot of places. If it's the same as mine - mine's a "delicate" looking monster.
Poison ivy is easier to deal with. It grows a lot slower.
yeah pattie i think that is what i have. it is so pretty i hate to take it out but sounds like if i don't i'll be sorry.
Finally identified my strange weed. Dodder Weed. Google it as it is not in Plant Files and I can't figure out how to upload pictures from iPhoto.
Barb, you could always put it in a big pot. And then deadhead like crazy. LOL. Too bad it's such a thug; it's a pretty little thing!
lucy that thing looks like a bird's nest.
yeah i could put it in a pot. hate to. how many years before it's too late to move it? lol. hope your daddy is doing good.
He's so-so. I don't know why, but he got a bruise the size of Australia, not on the surgery site but all up and down the back of his leg. That has been very painful and slowed down his recovery. He'll be okay, though, and glad he did the surgery.
that's strange. did they put him under? did they drop his leg?
Yes, they did put him under, and not sure why the big bruise. At least it's muscular, though, and not something related to his arthritis, so it will heal.
is it a large rectangle?
