My first pictures of my tropical hibiscus

Here are some pics of "CHEAP FRILLS" -- just love this one, the camera is not picking up the true exceptional beauty of these blooms.

It's so pretty with these ruffly blooms and the colors are magnificent.

And here's one that I used a part of it to pollinate one of the cheap frills blooms.
I don't have the name handy, but i think it has 'witch' or 'vodoo' on it's name

The camera is doing a good job Maureen. I do know what you mean though. Seeing them in person is the best. Did you buy those locally in NY or online? The second one looks like "Voodoo Queen". It opens up salmon colored and fades to yellow later in the day, correct?

HI Jon -- i believe you are correct. Voodoo Queen it is:-)
You must have a lot of experience with hibiscus to have been able to get that name right. I bought these and a few others online a couple of years ago. I went through 2 different nurseries, don't recall the names. I also have a beautiful "Peace Train" but it doesn't have any open blooms right now. I'll be sure to take pics of that one when it blooms. I think i am going to take cuttings of all 3 and maybe if i root them I can trade next year for a few different ones.

I was thinking "Voodoo Queen" when looking at it and you mentioned Voodoo, so it was pretty easy to figure out. "Peace Train" is a nice yellow/pink one? If you want to root some to trade you should probably get them started pretty soon. They take quite a few months to get going and the growing slows down during the winter.

HI, yes peace train is a beautiful bright yellow and pink.
I will start my cuttings tomorrow.
thanks
