Looking for someone who lives next to a creek in NC

Carlisle, PA(Zone 6b)

Hi, My husband & I are both gardeners and rockhounds and are taking a 2-week trip to Union & Franklin, NC the last 2 weeks in October with our camper. We are looking for someone who lives next to a creek to maybe do a little gold panning. We will be doing some pay prospecting but want to try some other creeks that haven't been prospected. Thank you, Buttoneer, Carlisle, Pa z 6b. p.s. we grow Passiflora incarnata which is hardy here in Pa.

Buttoneer, wish I could help you personally but I'm no longer in the mountains. Franklin is a beautiful part of NC and one of my favorites though!

You should Dmail DGer "Agrinerd" who lives in/near Franklin. As helpful a person as he's always been he might know some locals he can put you in touch with. Tell him I sent you!

Have fun!

There is a great camp ground just before you get into Murphy thats great for panning in. Wish I could remember the name of it.Its on the right going toward Murphy.

Lavina

Lavinamae, I'll try to look up that campground. If you remember it, plse let me know. Shoe, I heard from Agrinerd. You know what he told me? He knows of one old man who has a "private" creek he pans in, to make money for his moonshine. Oh Lordie.

Hah! That's too funny, Buttoneer!

Sounds like you better take a case or two of Mason jars to offer the fella, he can use them for his "enterprise". *grin

Hope you find someplace to pan!

LOL I miss the western part of the state and I love the people there. When I would go the Drs offices would close for the day for training and they would bring in home cooked meals for lunch. You can't get that in Raleigh or Charlotte or a big town . I loved the mountains and miss it even today.

Ditto here, Lavina. I grew up outside of Brevard, secluded little valley (at the time!). Some of the best memories I have are from those days. Buttoneer, you probably won't want to leave when you get there.

Big time rain here today, almost 3" last night and more coming. Loving it, just wish it had been spread out over the past several months.

Wonder if it'll wash the gold & gems down the creeks? We are getting blasted by it right now in Carlisle, PA.
