Is this a Larkspur?

I had this growing in the same area as Black eyed susans in Ben Wheeler.

Me too.

Is it wild? It's very pretty.

Prosper, TX(Zone 8a)

It was growing wild at the end of 2007 near the bottom of the land in a semi open clearing. All of the land that we had was deep sugar sand 12 feet down then white sand another 20 followed by white clay with pockets of Iron Ore down to 88 feet.

I did not have time to get seeds and since seeing this one I have not seen another that was naturally this blue.

Thanks

I will take a trip back to ETX to see if I can track it down and search for the seeds as well.

What you do have is the native Texas wildflower Blue Larkspur (Delphinium carolinianum). Grows everywhere in Texas except the panhandle. It is a perennial that generally grows in dry, sandy soils in fields, sand hills, open woodlands and brushlands.

Thanks and it was growing in sand.

Check out the link, it made me want some! I don't really have sandy soil but I might one day...

I don't have sand here in Frisco but I have access to all I can haul from BW so, I will be making my own mini sand pits here. Just so I can recreate something I miss so much.
