Weight loss diet for a 6month old ppply

Coral Springs, FL(Zone 10b)

I am at a total loss on how to proceed. I am feeding pepin a cooked diet, [80% protein, ( bison, chicken, venison) 20% carbohydrate (Sweet potato, green vegetables that have been pureed along with eggshells for calcium and phosphorus)] He is 6 months old and weighs 22 pounds. (His mom was 18 lbs, his dad 19.)

We have had such a long hot summer- right now it is still getting into the high 90's- and so the chances I have had to really exercise him have been limited by the heat. We do things together to avoid getting into a rut, and to keep him stimulated, but its pretty sedentary. Thank goodness he loves car trips and has no problem with his car seat.

I am taking him up north with me for the month of October, (driving) and he will have access to a flat sand beach and hopefully a better chance to build muscle mass and stamina. In the meantime though, I need some help in making sure that I am not overfeeding him, but still will insure that he has enough calories to grow big and strong.

Right now he is getting about 14 oz of the cooked diet. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I am really at a loss on what to do, or how to adjust this diet. I cannot step up the exercise, its just too hot here to do anything, even this late in the season its been in the 90's and these frenchies dont do well in the heat.

Any advice is really appreciated!
