Not only do I want to build a coop for a couple chickens, but I love seeing all your great pics. Since it will be a while before I get to start I am going to live vicariously through all of you.
Show off your hard work and your pretty babies inside.
Not just for chickens, I would love to see what people are doing w/ ducks, turkeys, or whatever you have.
Let's see your coop!
I'll be watching this! We have a 'summer' coop for the girls and are having their winter digs delivered on Saturday. This is their summer coop. It has a fenced run.
Last winter we moved this to their winter area and put poultry fencing around. I didn't want to move this around anymore so it's staying put from now on and I bought a small shed to convert into a coop. I'm going to try letting them completely free range. If they do too much damage or spend too much time pooping on the porch, then I'll put the poultry netting back up. But they have quite a large area of grass and woods that I'm hoping they'll stay away from the house.
What is the stuff I need to get to put on the floor of the new coop to make it easy to clean out? Some sort of smooth surfaced board of something? I forget what it's called. I need to call around and find some before Saturday.
The summer coop is really cute! Linoleum on the floor would make cleaning easy but the deep litter system over any flooring makes cleaning a rare task.
I am going to use the deep litter system, but I wanted something underneath that I could pull out and really hose off and clean up once a year. I think it would keep the floor from rotting as quickly.
I was looking for the old thread we had about coops.. Seemed like everyone posted.. I'm sorry, I couldn't find it..
Here's one I did..

Are parquet floors still in fashion among the chicken set?
You people with the big honkin' coops make me SOOOO jealous.
Gwendalou and green...
Thanks for the pics they are beautiful.
Thanks for the link, I didn't go back very far when looking. I thought it would be fun to set up a new one since things in the garden are slowing down for some of us.
