Funky Smelling Beef

I recently purchased a couple of beef chuck roasts and cubed them for soup/stew and froze them in ZipLoc bags with some soup bones. Yesterday I thawed a bag and made a pot of vegetable soup just like I always do. The meat has a funny, funky odor. I can't taste anything funny unless there is a piece of meat in the bite and I smell it (I hope that makes sense).

I noticed the same odor with a piece of frozen steak that I warmed in the microwave. I figured it had something to do with the microwaving.....apparently NOT!!!!! (This was stored in a different freezer than the soup meat.)

Even my puppy won't eat the meat.....he sniffs it then walks away.

What could have happened?
