Made it back just in time to give results for Fair..

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Billy and I took 6 chickens to the fair this year...On Thursday I saw 4 blues 1 red and 1 white on the cages.. Sweet I thought, it was fun and I was happy. I heard them talking they had not picked a grand in one class and did not think about it. Friday I went back to check on them and the Blue was gone from my sexlink and there was a Grand rosette hanging on the cage. My First thought was some kids played a joke and moved ribbons since there was no notation on the card on her cage.. All weekend I waited for the owner to collect the ribbon and put it back were it belonged... Sunday I sold two Roo's. one being Haystacks son and one a banty that Billy and I hatched beautiful holland. The boy wanted to join 4H so I pointed him in the direction of a club by him, and charged him 5 Bucks for both birds... He was a happy camper. I loaded up the chickens, and well 2 more that I had bought, and grabbed all the ribbons even the grand. I am waiting for the results to come out in the newspaper and if it is not mine, I will make sure they get the ribbon back... BUT if it is mine I will so do the chicken dance.
I could not have done so good with out the help of ALL my friends here at DG... I have been so lucky over the years to have such good advise... Billy and I are truly blessed...
The girl in the middle is the one with the Rosette ribbon, and Haystacks son is to the right.. The girl on the left I bought at the fair.
OH And I learned about the feed and water cups here on DG as well, worked wonderful..

MissJestr how are those cups held onto the cage?

Wonderful MsJester. I bet you both were thrilled

There were clips built into the cage, but I had some clothes pins in reserve in case there were none I read about that somewhere here awhile back, and it cost a dollar for 16 cups and if they got destroyed just swap them out... They took up less room than feeders and waters, the ones you see where used for transport and I just stuck them in the big pens..

How cool! Our fairs don't have chicken shows here. They did up north and the chicken part and the veg part were my favorites. Neither are in the local fairs down here. There is not much I miss about living up north, but the more elaborate county fairs is one thing I do miss.

Thanks for posting the photos and results and congrats! Good luck with your future showing endeavors! =D

I just read the entire thread from the link and all the adventures you had with the chickens until they were all grown up. I found it really enjoying. And it seems you had so much fun with them.

MsJestr, you have brought much joy to my life. Your chicken adventures were a blast to share and I think you are an awesome woman to be raising Billy the way you are. I'm proud to know you and grateful for DG to have brought us all together.

Billy looks very proud. (The belt buckle is almost as big as he is!)

The first picture was taken at his first Real Rodeo, and his seat for that was the alley the calves came down. He had his feet across them, and he wanted to jump down there and ride, he had a blast..

The other two were taken at the Parade the day before...
