Can anyone make out what this bird is? I have a lot of them in my yard, they come out in the evening to eat seed from the Silphium perfoliatum (cupplant). I try to get closer and they fly away. My camera only zooms so far, this is the best I could do.
TIA,
Terry
CLOSED: I have no idea...
Hi Terry, Hard to tell but could they be American Goldfinch?
I don't think so. The song is wrong.
Agree, American Goldfinch. You may just be hearing some feeding calls...different calls (variations) and songs during different times of the year.
Ditto to American Goldfinch

yeah yeah yeah, terryr is an idiot ☺ I'm battling HOSP, so I see something different and I don't know what I'm seeing, unless it's red of course. That sounds plausible, doesn't it?
