Does anyone have suggestions for how to provide fresh, unfrozen water for birds in the winter? I know there are fancy heated bird baths but being unmechanical, I don't want to get involved with electrical cords, etc. I am willing to trudge outside a couple of times of day if need be to add water but don't know what receptacle to use. Ceramics won't stand freezing and thawing and metal seems to me to be too much of a cold conductor. I'd prefer to have something sitting on/near the ground, not on a pedestal. There are no cats in the neighborhood and my yard is fenced in (stockade-style fencing) so I don't think ground-level should present an undue hazard to the birds. But I may be wrong on this. Thanks to anyone who can provide some guidance here.

"All Weather" Bird Baths
Ive heard of some here who use a heated dogbowl/waterdish...for the birds in winter.
Thanks, Burd_Fotos. I know some folks use plastic garbage can lids or those plastic dish-like sleds. But I was hoping for something more attractive than those, although I know that's more for my sensibilities than the birds'!
