Poisonous plants

I am new to the Ohio area coming from the desert region. I knew of quit a few poisonous plants out in AZ but I am at a loss here. Are there any plants that any of you know of that would attract a dog to them? I want to make sure that while I am learning about gardening that I also make it safe for our little ones here.
