As of yesterday, the PPO against me has expired. I still have my chickens and my dignity, which is more than I can say for the neighbor. I only wish there was a way to tell Hay.

Congratulations!

You go, Girl!!!!

It is so good to know that you are no longer a danger to civil order, jylgaskin.

We can only hope you will keep your nose clean by not using your livestock to provoke the neighbor's free ranging dogs; and, should the worst happen, that you will accept the consequences of your willful poultry holding with the grace and equanimity of the true peasant underclass.

Wow, the dangerous felon has served her time and paid her debt to society! And how ARE your lovely neighbors and their beasts? Is the situation likely to reoccur, or have changes been made to thwart them?

Anyway, congratulations!!!

The dogs have been contained. The neighbors are fine. I wish them long and healthy lives because they may be facing some pretty heavy Karma in their next ones.

I'm glad to hear that, Jyl! Now you can get on with your life. I agree with you about the karma....

=D! I tend to get so upset about some things.....things that are not really within my control. I keep trying to remember to keep my dignity and "this too shall pass". Such a hard lesson for me to learn and then to stick to. Enjoy your peace!

This whole experience has taught me that there is no control over what happens to you. You can only control how you react to it. Even there, I discovered that I did not have nearly the self control over my reactions that I thought. I have endured months of panic attacks and fear due to Post traumatic stress disorder. I only thought that it was experienced by people who had been through wars or disasters. I discovered that it can build throughout your entire life waiting for the right event to trigger it. While the PTSD was crippling in the beginning, I am learning to overcome it.

The hardest and saddest thing to deal with is the fact that one human being can so callously attack another and use the law as a weapon. I have since learned that the Personal Protection Law is one of the most abused in the system. We are all at risk of someone using it vindictively. The burden of proof lies wholly with the accused and he is considered guilty till proven innocent. The only ones who truly come out ahead are the lawyers who collect from both sides.

We have learned the hard way that there is no freedom of speech in this country, especially on the Internet and each time we post anything we are not only at risk for what we write, but we are liable for any words that another may respond to ours. Sadly, it is even a risk for me to post this.

It breaks my heart that the freedom and rights we have so treasured as Americans have eroded to this point.
It is not that I live in a different world than I did one year ago. It is that my eyes have been opened to the harsh reality of our social system.

All I want or ever wanted is to live peaceably and safely on my own property. I want to feed my chickens and collect their eggs. I want to watch my ducks waddle across the grass and my peacocks sun themselves on the fence rail. I want to raise and release my wildlings that I rehabilitate and feel free to walk about my yard when ever I desire. I want to write to my friends on line and not be afraid.

Coming back to Dave's is a step in that direction. Speaking out is a leaping bound.

I am so glad you're back and it's great to hear your voice again, Jyl. Hopefully this will all seem like a bad dream in a little while and you'll find tending your chickens and ducks and peacocks and wildlings to be an exercise in healing!
