I want my silkies to be healthy and look good, what do you that have silkies feed them?Right now they are on chick feed even the adults because there are more babies than adults in there coop.Is there a mixture of some things that I could give them?Do you use pellits or crumble?

What cute chicks! The birds behind the fence look jealous and resentful - "How come we cant go out and eat the pansies?"
I don't have Silkies, but maybe I need some... (Sorry, no help.)

The only thing I know that is different about Silkies is that sometimes they have a higher requirement for Vitamin E and Selenium....but that is only if they are showing neurological problems. A good, healthy diet of fresh layer crumble (I have finally switched my layers over to pellets, there is less waste, but I still give my smaller breeds crumbles), veggies and bugs should work well.

I feed mine flock raiser with grit & calcium on the side. Treats of fruits, veggies, oatmeal, scratch and what ever bugs they scratch up

Raw oatmeal or cooked? They get there bugs and some veggies but I have never tried fruit, what kind of fruit does your like? They get crumnbles but they waste so much.

They love almost all fruit...although at first they may act suspicious. Supposedly they don't like citrus or it is bad for them...but my coop is under an orange tree and they eat all the oranges that fall once they break them open.

Right now they are eating windfall figs, left over melons and tomatoes from work. They also adore bananas...the browner the better.

raw and cooked oatmeal both. I will throw some raw out with the scratch
Mine adore small berries (Blueberries, elderberries, wild cherries), watermelon, cut up grapes, and bananas most. I haven't tried Strawberries since they are so expensive
