Meet Red, the geriatric Beta. This guy is so old we can't remember when we got him, but definitely more than the usual 3 years these guys usually live. I don't want to exaggerate, but I'm pretty sure he's been around 5 years. He has survived 3 or 4 moves, almost freezing to death, and tap water. Never have used anything BUT tap water. My plate was too full to mess with him so it was thrive on neglect or croak. He thrived! We had a blue one also, but he didn't make it. Plan to get another blue one soon.
