Is there going to be a fall sale or did I miss it? I am looking for some Salvia penstemonoides. I meant to save some seed and then carelessly cut the one I have back and didn't save a thing. Also, has anyone grown these from seeds and if so what methods worked?

Molly Hollar Plant Sale
No Cheryl, we are not having a plant sale this fall due to reasons beyond our control.
Did your plant die? Mine have survived the heat, of course I do water.
I can give you a small one, if you like, I haven't picked seeds this year, too busy.
The problem with picking their seed is that they ripen at different times and you have to check all the time or they fall out of the little cup.
The Native Plant Society is having a sale October 16th, I will make announcement later on.

Mine did pretty well and was in bloom for a long time. It does seem to have some sort of spotting on the leaves but I think it will be fine. It came through last winter so I expect the same this winter. I am I guess greedy and would like a couple more. I ordered some seed since I can't find a source anywhere for plants. Now I need to find out how and when to plant the seeds. I really liked this plant.

I did gather seeds one year and winter sowed them in a pot where I could keep track and take care of them, they did fine, but I didn't have many seeds, so I didn't increase my stock very much, just a few plants.
I have also had luck taking the little offshoots that form along the tall stems, and potting those to root them, this has worked very well, but they grow slowly, so there are possibilities.
Here is a link to the plant in case people are wondering what it looks like;

Very nice. I can see why it is worth the effort!
