Hi, I don't know where else on this site for answers to these questions:
1. How long does it take for this caterpillar to form its chrysalis?
2. How long does it take for complete metamorphasis to take place?
3. Do you know a good source of information on this? (links maybe:)
4. I found one that had not completed its chrysalis & and ants were at it. I assume is was dead. Are the caterpillars helpless once they begin?

You should try the butterfly id forum. They have lots of good information there.
