I have some heritage raspberries that were loaded with gorgeous fruit a week ago. I was picking just the ones that fell off in my fingers each day until we got 4 days of heavy rain. I did go out the first morning in the rain and pick some, then I didn't go out for 3 days. The day after the rain ended, I picked most of the squishy ones, throwing a lot away. I assumed the unripened ones would still ripen into nice, big berries like the previous ones. We've now had 3 days of sun and I went out to pick this morning and some more have ripened, but they are very small, and a lot are dried up. Anyone know, is this related to the rain? Or are the later ones on the cane always smaller? If it is rain, any tips to avoid it in the future? Should i have picked even the less ripe ones before the rain hit?
