Photographed this little guy on East Beach, Galveston last Tuesday. He (she?) was quite small - maybe sparrow sized.
CLOSED: Shorebird ID help
Possibly a Least Sandpiper.
Black legs so not Least (has yellowish legs). I'd say either Western or Semi-palmated; tough call which.
Resin
Thanks Burd and Resin. Yes, the black legs were throwing me off as well. I saw something that indicated a Semipalmated beak is thick and blunt all the way to the tip and not attenuated like a Western beak. As per this reference, the Western beak is broad at the base and narrows midway to a sharp point. Hard to see the point here since there is a drop of water on it, but it does appear to be somewhat attenuated. So, maybe Western.
I appreciate all the help with these peeps.

Those darn legs..lol I never looked...look's like a Semipalmated now...the drip on the end of the bill was not a help either...but is a great shot none the less.
