My Lycoris squamigera had a second flush of blooms this year

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

Is this common?
Certainly not for me (as in never before). And the second flush emerged from the ground before the first flowers waned.

Never heard of that before.

If you've had dry summers and you get a good rain they'll pop up. Most likely your plants hadn't had enough water and once they did they poked their heads out. Lycoris need summer rainfall, some bulbs in dormancy don't like to be moist but these do and if they aren't they don't perform until they are!

Josh, you may have a good clue. We had a very dry spring. March, April and May together were 3 inches of rainfall below normal. June and July came with 5 inches above normal.

I live in Coon Rapids, MN, and many of my spring bulbs are re-emerging right now.

Your spring bulbs? Daffodils, tulips and so on?

Not the tulips, so far. But daffodils, crocus, and Siberian squill.
