This duck came into the rehab center today and I'm trying to decide if it's a domestic or wild species? It's a juvenile, 600 grams...looks like a mallard but head is almost chocolate brown and bill is dark. Getting some green specks in on head. Purple on the sides of the wings like a mallard.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Please help ID this juvenile duck!
Bird is wild...look's like an American Black Duck...not for sure on that though.
I'd agree with likely Mallard, or perhaps Black Duck or Mallard × Black Duck hybrid. If it is tame enough to tolerate handling well, a photo of the spread wing will help.

I'm from the twin cities, MN...not sure if we have black ducks here?? Never heard of them? I'll try to get more pictures tomorrow. He is rather tame, but also doesn't feel the greatest I'm presuming.
