HELP !!!!! Got Aphids on my milkweeds !!!!

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

Hello everyone !!!! I don't know if this is the right forum for this subject but since it's on my butterfly garden I thought that it would be appropriate. I was watering yesterday afternoon when I noticed this colonies of little yellow bugs. Of course I know what they were since I've learned about them when I had any orchid bug problems. Here is the problem. I don't want to do Orthene or Malathion because there are caterpillars as well as eggs on the milkweeds and I don't want to kill them. IS there an organic or not so harmful to the caterpillars method of getting rid of these pests ??? I would really appreciate any help that I can get from you all. Thanks in advance !!!!!

Welcome to the aphids on milkweed club Roly,!! as long as there are eggs or cats on the milkweed do nothing, you would likely kill them.
After the cats are gone you can spray the plants with a soap and water solution, about 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid to a quart bottle, then rinse the plants after that with plain water.

That is why I decided not to grow milkweed!

Yes, but you have to have it for the monarchs and queens!!

I just try to squish as many as I can with my fingers. At least I feel I am cutting down on the population.

That is a very good method too, they don't like hanging around where their relatives died, I do that sometimes also, but most people are too squimish to do it.

Squashing sounds good....muahahaha(evil laugh)
