Sounds like fun..might you run into the same issue as spunky1 on the daylily forum when he set up a contest for new names? His explanation was headed Dave Garden rules or something like that.
I certainly hope not, it is a nice challenge to work on gardens way out of my zone.

Hmm .. I've hosted contests before and not run into problems. If it does become a problem and it gets deleted, I suggest all that are interested bookmark the contest page and I'll post an alternative for submittals.

Thanks for the heads up.

As long as the contest is kept on the site (and not shunted off to another site), AND it is non-commercial (e.g., you're not a landscaper looking for free consulting advice that you plan to sell to a client :-) then we would happily allow a fun contest like this.

The site rules have always specified that prior approval is required for contests: http://davesgarden.com/aboutus/tou/

That lets us get these questions resolved before a contest is announced and avoid any potential confusion...

Well hopefully this one is ok .. the link to the site Nerii.org is owned by me and is totally non commercial. It's a catchall place for family stuff.

That's what it looked like...I'd like to say it's okay to do that, but it means we have to trek down a rabbit trail each time someone else wants to link to their blog or website, too. How about the photos just stay in your thread here?

I'm asking everyone to post their entries here .. I chose to do a website for the contest because it only requires one link to go to instead of 2 because you cannot link a picture here. Plus, it took over 30 minutes to set up all the plant file links and I'd rather not have to do that again.

Bump ...

Just a reminder - Contest closes Friday, the 17th.

HI, did some sketching out of plants, but cannot figure out how to get them on the computer. With recently switching to Picassa, having a lot more to learn.
Contest aside as I am just switching things in my head, which is the bushy plant to the left of the bed..I was trying to use it as a tether post point as it is so much larger. Also, is the Red Banana at the corner of 20 and 8? and if so, is it moveable?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

It's movable. You don't have to sketch the actual plants. You can draw circles on the template and label them. Once you have the layout you can either scan it or take a picture of it.

Here is an example of a layout .. I have all my beds on paper like this.
