Tell me more about it. How and why.
I have a bottle of fish emulsion and some green bean plants that could probably use a boost before they start producing. Is this a good idea? I'm sure it will stink, but it's outside and will break down in a few days, right? How should I dilute it for foliar spraying? It's Alaska fish emulsion, 5-1-1.
I've also heard about spraying squash plants with a tea made of worm castings to prevent or control powdery mildew. Has anyone done that? I'm not going to worry about it this year, but it might be something to look into next year.
Foliar Feeding
Dividensky the Alaska fish emulsion is what I have been using for my indoor seedlings and they really like it, I have not done foliar spray but just mixed with water and water them. For all my outside plants I have been using compost tea made of my own worm castings, I do foliar feed every once in awhile but mostly feed the soil with it. The microorganisms are very good for the plants and yes they seem to be less prone to disease.
Hmmm, maybe I could add it to the soil, then. I guess I'll experiment and see what happens. Thanks for the response, and I hope your garden is doing well.
Dividensky you can actually add it to the foliage as well. Compost tea is wonderful for both foliar and soil feed, and the best part is it wont burn your plants.
