CLOSED: What finch?

Any chance this is a juvi purple finch and not a house finch? He just looks different from the other juvi male house finches.

I don't always get this right, but going with Purple Finch.

Gosh I hope so! I don't have a purple finch on my list yet. If I saw one, I'd probably assume it was a house finch. This one though doesn't have the heavy streaking on the belly that the other juvi male house finches have. The house finch boys already have bright red under their chins and above their eyes. This one's color is spreading more and not yet as vibrant. Like I said, he just looks different, so I'm hoping for a purple finch.

Shucks! Thanks for the bit about the bill shape. I'll keep my eyes open for that. I'm just sure a purple finch is going to show up here one day.
