rains beginning

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

We got a spot of rain the other evening, and a cooler than usual evening, felt delicious, its still raining heavy in one area then drying up across the street, tho...the clouds kill that baking sun, and they are sooo dark and cool looking as they build up off the gulf.

We had a very short sprinkle Wednesday that you'd miss if you blinked. What a teaser. :(

+7 weeks at the orchard without rain.

Late next week is looking better.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

There is a hint of cooler weather...there has been a little breeze for the last few nights instead of that hot humid heavy air.

You're such an optimist, Anna! :)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Chuckl, you feel the cool when the sun's rays change angles. By the way, for those of us country livers, the field mice are moving in, get your traps ready.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yeah, I think there is a difference that the days are shorter. Just as hot, but not for as long.

"My foot be a twitchin and my armpit be a itchin,
I can feel old fall a comin so stop your stupid bitchin."

I just made that up but it felt appropriate.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

Maybe some day or Grandchildren will repeat some of these............NOT!!!

"When you are feelin sicky and the Ragweeds gettin thicky,
Lay in bed all day, like you were served a mickey."

One more!

"When your shirt begins a stinken and the possum need some drinkin,
Pray to God above and the barometer will start a sinkin."

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

HaHa!
Here is my attempt
"Heatstroke"
"If your body is ailing and your kidneys are failing,
Drink up your water and wait till it's hailing"

Somehow we are missing the wisdom of those old-fashioned sayings.

Let us see what I can do.

When the ground is dry
and the rains don't come
let us have a rain dance
and have a lot of fun.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

I tried it twice today already and no rain.
I think your poem is broken.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, at least I hope you had some fun!!!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

A rain dance poem, chuckl? where is your dried rainstick with seeds a rattlin to remind the earth and clouds of how the water should sound? It is a movin your way, you'll see

I am seriously melting.
This weekend is looking really good.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes...and I take back about the nice little breeze at night. It was seriously oppressive heat even at night.

Flower Mound, TX

Crusted and caked.
Flustered and flaked.
All my veggie beds are busted and baked.

Texas sun, Texas sun
Oh this garden of mine
I never expected to microwave
My fruit on the vine

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Very cute Jdbell!

U win the Garden Lament, jd, but we rainin again on the gulf, after 109 degrees today and humidity abt 90 odd percent, I simply sat out in the first light sprinkles and relaxed,

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Those are good ones! Isn't this cooler weather great?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh my Goodness!!! we had about 1/4 inch of rain last night which is really nothing, but what is amazing is the temperature, 74 degrees out there and cloudy at 11.48am today, after 107 degrees two days ago.
Those rain dances are powerful stuff!!!
