I recall this time last year. I was completely broken down from the heat and trucking water to my trees at the orchard. It kinda feels like last year but not beaten down. I have had 1/2 inch of rain since June 11th at my orchard. However, my orchard was flooded on June 10th and I didnt have to water for a few weeks.
Raise your hands if you are ready for a cool September with decent rain!
Texas Farmers Almanac says that we will have unseasonably cool weater at the end of September and early October.
Memories of August 2009
My hands are way up Lee!!!
Me! Me! Oh MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
I second, third, and fourth that thought!!!!!!!
I'm not broken down from the weather (yet) but have made the decision to take out some stuff and replace them with more Yaupons, Chile Pequins, etc. I am tired of having to water so much just to keep certain things alive. And it's stuff that could easily survive a "normal" summer. I'm just at that point now.

I am a little tired of this "boom and bust" cycle.
At least, everything had a few seasons to dig in some roots. There is a cold front on the Northwest coast right now that is supposed to come down here next Wed or Thursday. Some early reports are showing a mild winter for us and an absolute brutal winter for the Washington/Oregon area.
Some claim that they will be having a little mini-ice age up there in the Northwest in the next few years. I think it has to do with all the cold water melting off the glaciers and coming down. They also recently broke record high temps by over 10 degrees to a whopping 95 degrees. I am sure that is devastating to them.
Weird.

Does this mean I shouldn't start my fall cucumber and summer squash? That would be just my luck. The Spider Mites wouldn't get them an early freeze would.
I bet when they say "unseasonably cool", they mean lows in the mid 40s.
That sounds like heaven, low 70's sound good.
85 sounds good to me! Would fall veggies seeds grow in this heat? I want to put out some greens and such but am waiting for the heat to break. I don't know about fall tomatoes this year as I am tired of fighting off bugs.

Yes they'll germinate, but you need to put them in the shade. If you go to the Redenta's site, they have a wonderful planting guide that will tell you what to plant when.
Somebody here was telling me that, too. Hers started a couple weeks ago, while it was still thoroughly hot and dry.
Yes, for some reason things are blooming earlier this year, it could be the high temps, but who knows?
Thats so strange everything here is late.
Armageddon!! :o)
Global warming?
Solar Flares!!!!
hot tempered knomes?
Har har we have had 3 mornings of low 50° temps felt fine but forecast from the weather jocks say the temps are headed back up

It was September 9th of last year that broke the drought. September 7th this year breaks the mini-drought. I think I am going to start watching the second week of September.
It will give me a date to look foreward to.
I am watching the weather channel show nasty pix of Arlington so how are Y'all fairing ,we are just getting some much needed rain No Problems so far..JOE
Carla is hermine still your best friend?? Just asking...
We have gotten about 13" of rain. For some reason we are once again in one of the areas where it keeps raining and raining. I'm really glad I drive a truck.
I always wonder why every drought has to come to an end with a flood. Only in TX.!
