Aggressive Guinea

Chepachet, RI(Zone 5b)

Any help would be appreciated--we have eight 11-week-old guinea fowl and five 9-week-old orpington chickens (four blue and one splash). We "think" we have three female guineas and five males, and we "think" we may have two roosters and three hens with the orpingtons.

The problem is the low man on the totem pole with the guineas has taken to becoming overly aggressive with the chicken hens. I mean, he's just horrible, to the point where we now have to make sure we seperate the the flocks, which is a pain. Even when free ranging, this little guinea will just make a bee-line for the hens and will hang on to their tail feathers like there's no tomorrow.

I expect there to be some fighting but this seems to be going over the line, he just won't let my chicken hens be. Does he need to go? If not, what other options are there?

Again, any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Bump up.

I have never had guineas, but I've never heard of this behaviour from others. It sounds like his hormones are raging.

On my place he would become dinner. Pintade is a real delicacy in France. It really infuriates me to see them behaving that way!
