Hi there,
This is my first year trying to grow Moon & Stars watermelon. And I have one! Yay! However, I'm not sure how to tell when it's ready to pick. Can someone else who has grown this melon give me an idea? It's starting to get the "stars" on the skin of the melon, which is about 7" in diameter.
Thanks!
Deb
Moon & Stars watermelon question
I'm growing watermelon for the first time this summer, too. *can't remember the name, but it's yellow meated* I have SIX melons on one vine! One is very big, and I researched how to tell if it's ripe. I read that the curly tendril adjacent to the stem vine (nearest to where it attaches to the melon) will turn brown when the melon is ripe... it means the vine is dying, and the melon will get no more nourishment. I keep watching my tendrils, and they're not brown, yet. So, I keep watering, and the melons keep growing! Hope you enjoy a nice, sweet melon eventually.
